Douglas Harper - 1982.
"There are some who speak of a harvester machine. If it comes to using a machine like that, I still need workers, but I can tell you that I will not vagabonds, those they call "apple knockers". Understand me well, I'd like to take vagrants because they're guys hard workers. But if I had a machine to pick fruit, it would have to have an organization, regular hours, work teams and everyone who works at the rate of the harvester. Vagrants would never do that, not even in a million years. They are too independent and they live according to their whims. They must know they can come and go as they please, and work with no one to watch. "
- Douglas Harper, Vagrants northwestern U.S., L'Harmattan, 1998, translated from Good company, 1982.
Boxcar Willie, True Hobo
The tradition of being a Hobo as a profession lives on. While in the states I came across an informative Tramp (different to a hobo, as is a bum) who let me in on a major Hobo event that happens annually in California. My next trip is confirmed, King of the Hobos is a fascinating mission.

Corinne Day 1965 - 2010
I went trough a bad breakup about 6 years ago and wanted to give up Photography altogether. I nearly dropped out of college until late one night I saw a documentary on Corinne. Her drive was inspiring and I think it pushed me further in to what I loved more than anything. A few years later I had the pleasure of working with her and she was brilliant. I wish I told her.

Really beautiful work. On a job with her now and a good person to boot! Sensibility can be a rare thing.

250 Rolls of Film and an Open Road.
Been a while since I've been nervous about taking pictures. I guess when you do something consistently for a long time the idea of doing something new can be quite daunting. This trip to North West America is terrifying me as I'm don't know weather I will find a project with as much heart as I would expect from anyone.
The mileage will be allot and the landscape diverse... 250 rolls of film translates into 9000 pictures. I guess there will be some thing there.
