Shaney MacLord Fitsbastard of Carney Commons - Limited Print Sale

The time has come... In 2006 I was commissioned to bring a disposable camera to Shane McGowan in the hope that he would photograph the day and life trough his eyes. The idea was great although getting Shane to preform such a task was difficult, well impossible to be honest. The great outcome with the project was I got to spend almost 3 days with the man watching Naked Lunch and smoking a rather large pipe while he took pictures of me, his Hat and a Penguin book of "Poguery". While nodding in and out of conciseness he managed to make allot of sense and enlightened me as a young Irish man. He pretty much made me feel bad for not knowing enough about my History.

Never the less while he was explaining to me trough his illustration, drunken zen on my diary I managed to take a portrait of him that I'm mighty proud of. It is difficult to justify his soul trough photography but I think I did with that moment of deep thought. In my diary he drew the river of life and him surfing on top of it. Signed, Shaney MacLord Fitsbastard of Carney Commons. Although he was in and out of certain states, as you can imagine, he made sense in every word he said. Shane became a hero instantly.

I have only decided to run an edition now. I will make 25 fiber prints 20" x "24" hand printed by Darren Catiln. I'm pretty sure at £300 a pop they are worth it. I held on to the pictures till now as I wanted them to be a little richer in their value. After this edition I will not print any more.

I had seen a video of them before and dismissed it quickly (butterfly, ninja one). Since putting in a bit of research im now a fan. This video in particular, I've watched allot! It is brilliant and makes me realise that there is a slight tongue in cheek element to them. They are pretty punk but also quite calculated... Maybe... I think...

Bambi

There was a band of extremely young misfits I spent the most important time of my life with, when I was growing up. They were called Bambi and they consisted of Ben, Karl, Willie and Dano. They were dubbed as on of the hottest bands to play the circuit in Ireland and their age and talent brought the attention of some great record labels and industry moguls alike. They had something in them most people didn't. The pure want to play music and not sell out to the controlling ways the labels conducted.

They were great, they made their mark and I am proud to have been there.

Greatness.

Linda

Today I found out some really sad news. A beautiful, kind woman who helped me and my art passed away. She was the one who believed in my work enough to sponsor the framing of my last show and never once doubted it or my ability. Linda was extremely personable, happy, funny and had a genuine good heart. She helped allot of people and encouraged young artists to do what they could with what ever they had. Tough too and not to be messed with, she ran Guest Frames with confidence and strength.

I cant believe your gone, I'm glad you passed quickly, with out pain and laughing as I remember you always being happy and positive.

Thank you and I miss you.

The Bug - Catch a Fire, Music Video

Hard at work with the master art director Ricardo Aguilar cutting up the new Bug track, Catch a Fire featuring Kiki Hotomi. Footage is looking great and the track is incredible. Planning to be released for the 20th anniversary of Ninja Tune Records  in August, there is no better time to work with The Bug on this project. Recently featured on the cover of this months The Wire magazine, The Bug is generating a tone of amazing press. Watch this space.
